A splash of copper.
I was browsing in a secondhand store when I saw this dress.
Red is one of my favorite colors, so that was what first appealed to me.
I also liked the fit and flare style of the dress, along with the v-neck.
The store shown on the inside tag is no longer in business, and has not been for several years.
A vintage dress indeed.
I noticed that the fabric is 100% cotton.
Cotton is the easiest fabric for me to paint on, so this should be fun.
As I looked at each color of paint, and reflected on how it would look against the red, I settled on copper.
I started painting it by adding strokes of copper.
I was not thrilled with the way the dress was turning out.
As a result, I got bored and stopped.
I resolved to come back to it the next day, or one day soon.
It would be several months before I had the desire to paint it again.
When I start something, and don't finish it, it's easy to lose my motivation.
It could be a book, an online class, or an exercise program.
In this case, it was a partially painted dress.
One day, I was filled with inspiration, and I pulled this dress out again.
I wanted to give it another try.
I began painting it again with copper paint, but it was different this time.
The design was actually flattering to the dress.
I was in love.
I tried to give this dress away twice.
The first time, the person had too much stuff, and had no room to accommodate it.
The second time, the person was standing right before me, and I couldn't find it.
I had hung it up in the closet, so where was it...?
I finally decided to put the dress up for sale, and it sold shortly thereafter.
This dress and I had an interesting journey.
My inspiration was the push I needed for all to end well.
