I purchased a black, v-neck tee shirt from a regular clothing store.
This tee shirt is not re-used.
I purchased it with the intent to paint it.
At the time of purchase, I was mainly painting abstract, and floral designs on tee shirts.
I chose a black tee shirt because the colorful paint would create a great contrast with the black, and allow the design to stand out.
The con to painting on black is that the black is very strong, and it is difficult for the full color of the paint to seep through.
But, once it does...
The awesome thing about painting an abstract design is that there are no rules.
You are free to use whatever colors your heart desires.
If you want a uniform pattern, you can do this.
If you only want paint on only a particular portion of the garment, no problem.
If you want to splatter paint all over, go for it!
You are the innovator and designer.
If it works for you, it works.
My goal was to use a myriad of colors.
I didn't have a particular style in mind, so I really didn't know how it would look in the end.
I opened each jar of paint, and added its color.
At times, I splattered.
At times, I dabbed.
At times, I painted.
Each of the colors came together to form a beautiful design that I loved.
It is always best to put a paper bag, or a piece of cardboard on the inside of the garment that is being painted.
This keeps unwanted paint from seeping from the side being painted, to the other side.
I did not do this.
As a result, a few drops of paint got onto the back of the shirt.
I had intended on keeping the back of the shirt in its original black.
Now I had to create a simple design to camouflage my error.
And that, I did.
Because mistakes are bound to happen, flexibility is always needed.
