Painted feminine graphic for jean jacket.
I created and painted a graphic that has been printed on a jean jacket.
I am going to be painting more graphics for tee shirts, hoodies, and jean jackets.
I started by drawing an outline of an image I saw online.
I have used this outline to create many different women.
Each time, I change the complexion, hair, makeup, and jewelry (if any).
I am a hair lover, so creating different hair textures, and styles is fun for me.
I also enjoy applying color to the eyelids, lips, and fingernails.
In doing these things, I live vicariously through the painted images.
With this particular image, I created a black woman with afro textured hair.
The hair is loosely pulled to the side and covers one of her eyes.
I was careful to paint in such a way that the texture is visible.
I gave attention to the details of her hair, emphasizing texture and volume.
I achieved this hair texture by using a sponge brush.
I used warm tones for her skin complexion.
Painting gives me a lot of joy.
It provides me an opportunity to think, reflect, and get clarity on things that I have been unclear about.
I get to mix the five primary colors (black, white, red, blue, and yellow), and I have excitement as I see the new colors spring forth.
Painting has a calming effect, and is a great stress reliever.
I have a sense of accomplishment whenever I complete a project, as some take longer than others to complete.
I enjoy sharing my work with others.
It is encouraging when I hear that my artwork provides meaning to someone else.
At times, I am drawn in to the things that I create.
I may find myself going back to a created work repeatedly to get another look.
There are points when I'm intrigued by the color combinations.
Other times, the movement or designs captivate me.
I think back to my stiff drawings as a child, and can't believe that I have progressed so far.
I would have to say that this is my greatest joy.
This jean jacket, along with other graphic tee shirts, hoodies, and jean jackets are available on hoodiewood.
