Painted Plaid Shirt

Painted Plaid Shirt - The Purchase

Painted plaid shirt.

I purchased this shirt at a vintage marketplace where there are a bunch of people rummaging through piles of clothes.

If at any point, a clothing item appeals to you, this is the time to pick it up, and put it under your arm.

Later, you can examine all of the pieces you have collected, and determine which you will keep, and which will be thrown back into the pile.

This may sound like a hectic environment, but I kind of like it.

You never know when you will come across a great find.

I picked this shirt up because I love the softness of flannel.

I also picked it because I thought that I would be able to enhance the plaid design with paint.

Painted Plaid Shirt - Enhancing the Plaid

I personally like the way the colors red, and magenta look together.

With that, I painted the greater portion of the shirt magenta.

The magenta is intertwined with the plaid.

I also included splashes of turquoise, and copper on the front if the shirt.

I rather like the imperfection of the paint job as well.

I am a bit more free now than in my early years of painting.

I used to try to paint perfectly.

Now, I know that imperfections, and mistakes come with the territory, and I try to work them into the overall scheme of the project.

The paint gives the shirt an artsy flare.

It went from being an everyday, plaid flannel shirt, to being a shirt that people want to know more about.

"Where did you get this shirt from?"

"Who painted it?"

"Was there only one?"

Painted Plaid Shirt - The Total Look

This shirt is casual, and sparkly at the same time.

It may be paired with a pair of jeans, and a nice blazer, and a pair of boots.

It would also look nice with a jean, or corduroy skirt, a lightweight jacket, and dare I say a pair of heels?

Painted Plaid Shirt - The Fabric

The fabric is 100% cotton, and it feels great against the skin.

It also keeps the skin warm.

I am not a big fan of ironing.

I purposely buy clothes that don't require a great deal of ironing.

So is the case with this shirt.

It can be washed, and hung on a hangar to dry.

Once dry, it is ready to be worn.

So simple.
