Painting a vintage Christmas sweatshirt.
I purchased this sweatshirt at a vintage marketplace, and wasn't really sure how I wanted to paint it.
I knew that a design idea would come to me eventually.
It has been in my closet for a couple of years, and when I realized that the season to wear it is now here, I decided to pull it out, and paint on it.
Truthfully, I liked the sweatshirt in its original state.
It didn't necessarily need to be painted, but because this is what I do, I painted it.
I have stared at this sweatshirt over and over in an effort to start painting.
Just about every time that I have looked at it, I have had no thoughts on how to get started.
I finally decided to reinforce the gold glitter that surrounds each item on the sweatshirt.
I could not find my gold paint, so I reinforced the glitter with copper paint.
I then painted Christmas bulbs on the tree.
The bulbs are not perfect circles because they were painted with my free hand.
They also did not photograph well, but the colors of the bulbs are are magenta, red, turquoise, and mint green.
The fabric was easy to paint on, and the paint dried fairly quickly.
There is not a drastic difference between the look of the sweatshirt as purchased, and the painted sweatshirt.
I kept it simple.
I could have painted tinsel on the tree as well, but I decided against it.
I didn't want the design to be too overwhelming.
I love a good sweatshirt.
They are so cozy and comfy.
And this sweatshirt was no different.
I would definitely wear it during the holidays to help me get in the spirit.
I really like the vintage look of the sweatshirt, and I'm thinking that it may go well with a pair of jeans, and colorful boots.
It may also pair well with a jean skirt, and standout boots.
This sweatshirt would be great to wear to a party, or just lounge in around the house.
If lounging, a nice pair of sweatpants, or leggings would do.
Either way, this is how I gave an old sweatshirt a new vibe.
