Painting a vintage leather jacket yellow.
I purchaseed this jacket many years ago, and it is now vintage.
I bought it off-season in the summer months.
As a result, I got it at a really good price.
I have only worn the jacket three or four times, so it is in great condition.
I could have donated the jacket to a charity, but I kept thinking that I would one day miss it.
In time, I gave the jacket to my sister.
Several years later, she was cleaning out her closet.
She thought that I may be able to paint some of the items she was discarding, and asked if I was interested in taking a look at them.
I said "yes", and she brought them over.
As I was looking through the pile, I saw my leather jacket.
"Didn't I give this to you?', I said.
She responded with, "I think so, but I never wore it, so I am getting rid of it."
With that, I took the jacket, and decided to paint it.
Painting this jacket was more time consuming than I thought it would be.
There was more jacket than it had initially appeared.
The jacket was beige.
I was never very fond of the color because it was so bland.
I wanted to brighten the jacket up a bit.
I like the color yellow, and it is very bight, so yellow was the designated color.
I started by wiping the jacket down with white vinegar to remove any dust particles.
I used a round sponge brush, and dabbed the paint onto the jacket.
I only gave the jacket one coat of paint.
It is customary to give every painted garment at least two coats of paint.
It has been my intent to go back, and add another coat, but I have not done so yet.
The yellow paint transformed the jacket.
I actually wanted to wear it.
I did in fact wear it to church during the colder months, and received a lot of compliments.
I wanted to wear it to church again, but decided against it because it was such a standout the first time.
I will give it another try next winter.
