Painting my green jacket.
I purchased this jacket long ago, and don't remember the store where I bought it.
I wore it often in the past, but lately, not so much.
As such, it was definitely time for the jacket to either be upgraded, or given away.
I chose the upgrade.
I painted a woman.
I am only able to paint people if I draw an outline first, so that is what I did.
I drew the outline on the jacket with a regular No. 2 pencil.
I also had an eraser on hand.
Underneath the paint, there are many eraser marks.
This is partly due to my drawing skills.
This is also in part due to the jacket continuously slipping and sliding while I was trying to draw on it.
I could not get it to remain still.
As a kid, I was unable to draw movement.
The people I drew back then were all stiff.
I practiced often to be able to capture the smallest of movements.
It has been frustrating, but I do see the progress that I have made.
I was originally aiming to paint a ballerina, but things did not go as planned.
I was able to pivot, and paint a dress, instead of a leotard.
I took photos of the process intermittently.
I am a hair lover, and likewise, whenever I paint a woman, styling, and painting the hair is my favorite part.
I normally would have gone for a ponytail, or bun, but I tried something different this time.
I painted long braids.
This was fun, but time consuming.
I was sure to have the braids fall differently around her body, as they would in real life.
When it was all done, I would have only changed one thing.
When I tried the jacket on, the image was not completely centered.
Other than that, I am very pleased with the end result.
I look forward to doing it again.
I may be able to see that ballerina come to fruition after all.
