Creative Art Dresses - Every Dress

Creative art dresses. All dresses have a natural creative art flare to them.

Feminine, frilly, high neck, back out, button-up, zipper back, high waisted, A-line, flared, belted, flowy, fitted, polka dot, solid, striped, old, new, lace, wool, silk, mini, midi, or maxi.

They are all beautiful.

It would be so awesome to craft a handmade dress and then paint on it.

I have a 13 year-old niece who took a sewing class a few years ago.

She now sews on her own.

She recently made a dress (without using a pattern), and I thought it looked so pretty on her.

Creative Art Dresses- Painted Dresses

I purchased some dresses from a thrift shop with the intent to paint on them.

Sometimes I lay the paint out to see how the colors will look against the fabric.

The colors I chose are white, yellow, and red.

Because this dress was all black, it easily absorbed the painted colors., and after two coats, it barely appeared as if it had been painted at all.

In total, I gave the dress about five coats of paint.

I was pleased with the outcome.

Creative Art Dresses - The Second Time Around

I love the magenta and turquoise color blocking against the black fabric.

This was my second time painting it.

I don't remember what it looked like the first time I painted it a few months prior, but I do know that something was lacking.

It now seems complete.

Creative Art Dresses - Red and Magenta?

I thought long and hard before I knew what color I would paint this dress.

Not only that, but where would I put the paint?

On the front only?

The back only?

Sprinkled all around?

An abstract design, or a solid color?

Decisions. Decisions.

Thankfully, it all got worked out.

Creative Art Dresses- Redesign

Here is another dress that I would like to paint a second time.

I have more ideas than I did the first time around.

I believe that I can make it pop and sparkle a lot more.

The style of the dress stands out, and it needs a design that stands out as well.

I was walking along a beach boardwalk, and I saw the dress hanging outside of a shop.

I immediately knew that I wanted to paint it.

I'm thinking of adding splashes of magenta, turquoise, and copper.

These are my "go-to" colors as of late.

I have more dresses to come...
