Painting a ballerina graphic tee shirt.
I purchased a vintage graphic tee shirt from an online store.
The tee shirt had an outline of a ballerina on it.
The ballerina outline gave me the opportunity to paint the hair, the dress, and the ballet shoes.
I even added lipstick, and nail polish.
To my dismay, I got one small spot of white paint on the back of the shirt.
I will probably add black paint to the back later to rectify this.
I filmed the painting of the hair, and ballerina dress.
I decided to paint the hair red so that it would stand out against the black tee shirt.
One big bun was the hairstyle of choice.
I painted the dress, and ballet shoes turquoise, and left the rest of the original graphic as is.
The tee shirt still has the vintage look with a slight touch-up.
This tee shirt is special to me because it has a ballerina on it.
Not only do I enjoy painting ballerinas, but I greatly appreciate the art of dance.
My fondness of painting ballerinas stems from the fact that I was once unable to draw movement.
Ballerinas are full of movement.
I am fascinated with practicing drawing the extension of the arms and legs, along with the undeniable grace that every ballerina has.
There have been times that I have been so moved by dance that I have been brought to tears.
As I draw/paint an image of dance, my imagination plays soft music in the background.
I did a canvas painting of a ballerina some years ago.
It is one of my favorite paintings.
I started with a drawing, and I remember that every move that I made with the pencil was right.
I did not need my eraser.
The same followed when I started painting.
I could not make a mistake if I wanted to.
Rarely do I gaze at my artwork for an extended period of time.
Yet, I did gaze at this painting recently.
It is so beautiful, and elegant, and I never imagined that I would be able to create such a piece of work.
