Pouring painted flowers on a graphic tee shirt.
I purchased this vintage graphic tee shirt from an online store.
The graphic was small lettering in the upper corner of the tee shirt.
As a result, I had the entire shirt to paint on.
I chose to pour paint to create flowers.
How did I do...?
Originally, I was going to paint an abstract design.
A different idea came to me right before I started painting.
I decided to create three flowers.
The flower petals would be red, yellow, and white.
The center of each flower would be black, along with the stem.
I filmed part of the process.
I had never used this technique to create flowers, and the pouring didn't go exactly as planned.
It was a little messier than I had envisioned, and I poured much more paint than I intended.
The flowers did not come out uniform.
In the end, however, I did appreciate the imperfections.
The paint was thick on the tee shirt, so I had to let it dry for two full days.
I put a brown paper bag on the inside of the shirt before I started painting.
I wanted to prevent paint was getting on the back of the tee shirt.
Painting this tee shirt has caused other ideas to rise to the surface.
I am thinking that i may sketch an outline on a tee shirt of people and/or animals, and pour paint in the same fashion as I did this time.
Imperfection would now be the goal.
I could draw the images perfectly, and paint outside of the lines.
I have to admit that the thought of this causes my inner child to cringe just a bit.
As a little girl, I prided myself on staying within the lines when coloring in a coloring book.
When I think of purposely not coloring inside of all the lines, I can see my growth as an artist.
There are so many more art techniques I would like to try.
