Painted beach jean jacket.
A painted image of the beach with the sun rising, or setting (depending on your imagination), is one of my favorite scenes to paint.
I especially enjoy painting the sky.
Sometimes the sky is orange, other times it's purple, or even gray.
I get to play around with so many different colors.
It takes me back to learning about the color wheel in elementary school.
Red, and yellow make orange.
Red, and blue make purple.
Blue, and yellow make green.
I relish in mixing the paint to create an array of shades, and hues.
And the sun.
How will it be portrayed?
Will it be large, and take center stage in the painting?
Will it be seen slightly peeking over the waves, or will it lurk somewhere to the right or the left?
As the paint comes in contact with the fabric, the color that comes through is dependent on the original color of the garment.
As such, the same colors of paint could be used on different clothing items, and look totally unique each time.
On this particular jacket, I used a combination of red, white, and yellow for the sky.
The same colors were used to depict the sand.
The paint is heavier on some parts of the jacket, and lighter on others.
No specific format was used in painting the jacket.
I allowed my hand to be free.
When I'm painting this image. I am transported to the beach in my mind.
I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin.
I am walking on the tiny grains of tan colored sand.
I hear the waves of blue water crashing against one another, and the sound of seagulls nearby.
The ocean is inching closer, and closer to me with each new tide.
I look out, and see a never-ending body of water in the distance.
The multi-colored sky is so beautiful to look at.
The birds are flying over the water in perfect formation.
No driving involved.
No sunscreen purchased.
No need to pack a lunch.
Just another getaway while holding a paintbrush in one hand, and a pallet in another.
I look forward to the next time I will take this journey.
