Painting a Vintage Dress Again - The Beginning

Painting a vintage dress again.

I purchased a vintage dress at a thrift store before the pandemic shutdown a few years ago.

The dress was vintage, pink, and not too fancy.

I am partial to dresses, so I decided to give it a go, and see what I could do with it.

It was hanging in the closet, untouched, for quite a while.

I was not sure exactly how to approach painting it.

Eventually, I took someone's suggestion, and painted only the hemline, and the sleeve cuffs.

I liked the outcome, and deemed the dress to be "complete."

This is the dress before I started painting it.

I needed to take photos of the painted dress, but the dress is a little too small for me.

I thought of a friend who is tall, and thin.

I imagined that she would be a good candidate, but I wasn't sure if she would be willing.

She was willing, and the photoshoot began.

The dress fit her perfectly.

I loved the photos, but something did seem to be missing from the dress.

I did not know what to do to give it more "bling."

It seemed that it would be gaudy if I added more paint.

And so I left it alone.

I was ready to put this dress up for sale, but I wasn't excited about the way it looked.

I decided to paint it again.

This time, I added splashes of magenta paint all over the dress.

Surprisingly, this was what the dress needed.

It really made it "pop."

For the second photoshoot, I used a relative of mine.

She has the physique of a model, and the dress fit her well.

I like the look of the dress so much more now.

This dress would be fitting to wear to a nice dinner, or elegant event.

It could also be worn to an engagement party, or wedding.

One thing is for sure. No one else will be wearing one just like it.
