Painting a vintage wallet pink and green.
It has been my intention to start painting more vintage handbags, but somewhere in the process I discovered that I really enjoy painting vintage wallets.
I purchased this vintage wallet in an online store.
It was originally black, and definitely in need of being restored with paint.
Initially, I was thinking of painting the wallet pink...
I followed my plan of painting the wallet pink.
Then, I somehow got connected with Pinterest, and saw photos, and paintings of beautiful women.
I wondered if I could paint one of these women on the wallet?
Hmm...?
I decided to give it a try.
I used a photo of a woman as a model.
As I drew the sketch, I made the image my own.
Much to my amazement, it turned out beautifully.
I became very excited, and thought about other images of women that I could paint on wallets.
My favorite female images to paint are fashionistas, brides, and ballerinas.
I also love to create different hairstyles.
I am currently preparing to paint a ballerina on a coin purse.
I am painting women on wallets, because, in my opinion, the images look better on wallets, and coin purses, than on handbags.
An image on a handbag may not be a compliment to the outfit, while wallets are carried inside the handbag, and are not readily visible.
Also, the images on a wallet are small, so they do not have to be as detailed as a larger image would be.
They take less time to paint.
How did I choose pink and green as colors to paint the wallet?
I know of a sorority whose colors are pink and green.
After I selected pink as the color for the wallet, I decided to paint the dress green in honor of this sorority.
I will later create different color schemes to honor other sororities.
I will also paint some wallets with colors that have no affiliation to a particular sorority.
The possibilities are endless as ideas are still flowing.
