Painted turquoise boots.
I purchased a pair of black boots during the winter season.
I tend to wear dresses, and skirts more often than I wear pants, and I needed a pair of boots to keep my legs warm.
I opted for a pair that did not have a high heel. I was focusing on comfort more than style.
I did not wear the boots many times, and eventually, I became bored with the color.
As a result, I thought about painting them...
I had several colors to choose from, and I contemplated them all.
Red...? Although I absolutely love red shoes, I have another pair of boots that I definitely want to paint red, so this color was out.
Yellow...? Black is difficult to cover with paint, and I didn't think yellow would be opaque enough, so I scratched this color.
Pink...? I have yet another pair of boots that I painted this color, so I wanted to choose something different.
Turquoise...? This may work. It's a beautiful color, and I have never seen anyone rocking a pair of boots in this hue. A definite standout.
Once I had settled on a color, I wiped the outside of the boots with vinegar because I read that this is a good cleaning agent for leather.
After cleaning the boots, I covered with masking tape the parts of each boot that I was not going to paint.
I confess that I am a little messy when I paint, and I didn't want to take a chance on having paint splatter in the wrong places.
I have learned from past flubs that it is best to take proper precaution (though it may be time consuming).
I gave each boot three coats of paint.
The turquoise color became more brilliant with each added coat.
I then added Acrylic Finisher to secure the paint.
The boots look brand new.
It is difficult to conceive that they were ever black.
I admit that I am addicted to seeing the "before" and "after" transformation when I paint any article of clothing.
I am just as fascinated as anyone else.
These boots may be worn with a casual outfit, or they may be dressed up.
