Painted abstract jacket.
I went shopping at a second hand store a couple of years ago.
I did not have anything in particular that I wanted to purchase.
I was mainly going to browse, and if anything happened to catch my eye, I would buy it.
I love jackets. All kinds.
This was a section I definitely had to look through.
As I did, I came across a brown, lightweight, cotton, button-up jacket.
I liked the jacket in its original state, but I thought I may be able to make it stand out just a little more.
I thought about many colors that I could paint the jacket.
I didn't think it would look good painted multiple colors.
One color should work nicely.
As I was envisioning what color would flatter the jacket the most, white came before me.
Even so, I had my doubts.
"White is so plain.", I thought.
How can this color add to the look of the jacket?
As I was painting, the paint was not going on smoothly, and the strokes were splotchy.
This was not my intent, but I liked it.
I liked that it was imperfect. Uneven strokes. A little messy.
I thought it made for a really cool design.
And, good call on the white.
I don't believe any other color would have shown the faulty strokes as nicely.
This is a jacket that I would definitely wear.
Painting, in general, requires a certain stillness. I guess this is true with any craft.
I was not on the phone, checking social media, or laughing and talking with others while painting.
I was outside, listening to the wind, and my thoughts.
I was creating in the quietness.
I was focused on the task at hand.
I am an introvert at heart, so I was in my zone.
I appreciate being alone.
It's a time of refreshment for me.
I receive clarity.
Peace and tranquility.
Restoration.
I'm in a place where I can take risks, yet have no fear of making a mistake.
Most of all, it's so much fun. I can't believe I get to do this.
