Painting an Afro Bride Tee Shirt

Painting an Afro bride tee shirt.

I enjoy drawing brides because of the daintiness and femininity involved.

There are so many hairstyles to choose from.

The wedding gowns are fancy and intricate.

Painting a bride reminds me of my childhood and how much I loved to play with dolls.

Painting an Afro Ballerina Tee Shirt - The Process (Short Video Below)

For me, the hardest part about painting begins with the pencil.

The drawing process can be challenging at times.

I always need an eraser nearby.

Case in point, I attempted to create a design on this tee shirt before I did the bride design.

The drawing did not turn out as well as I had hoped.

I was unable to remedy the mistakes I made, so I decided to paint the entire front of the tee shirt black, and start over with a new design.

I viewed a lot of bride photos before I settled on one that I wanted use as a model to draw.

I sketched a workable outline and was ready to begin painting.

One thing to note is that the colors I used for the skin and the hair had to be visible against the black.

I  chose a copper complexion, and red hair.

The white dress has off-the shoulder straps, and is flowing at the bottom.

The hair is big and puffy, and has a white floral accent.

Turquoise eye shadow, red fingernail polish, and a diamond ring complete the details.

I filmed part of the painting process.

Painting an Afro Bride Tee Shirt - The Final Result

I am very pleased with the final result.

The design turned out better than  I anticipated.

I look forward to painting more brides in the future.

I would like to sketch a bride with a particular gown, and paint it over and over again.

Each time I paint it, different ethnic features will be highlighted.

There will be Afro women, Caucasian women, Asian women, and Latina women.

The hair colors will range from black to brown to red to blonde.

The hair texture will span from afro textured to wavy to straight.

The skin tones may be very dark, cocoa brown, reddish brown, copper or fair.

I hope to represent every culture.
