Painted res heels jean jacket.
Many people like a good jean jacket.
They are comfortable to wear, and they go with just about any outfit.
Some jackets are deep blue.
Others are stonewashed, and faded.
This one happens to be a medium shade of blue.
I first saw it at a thrift store, and purchased it.
It was hanging in my closet for a while before I actually started painting it.
I don't always have a design readily available when I lay my eyes on a clothing item.
Many times, I need to think it over.
For me, and probably many others, the left, and right brain work together in the creative process.
I began by determining which color(s) I believed would flatter the garment the most.
I then considered a pattern, or style.
I have different paintbrushes for various looks that I want to achieve.
There are times I want the paint to be heavy.
Or, I may prefer it to be light, and airy.
I thought about painting a sunset, or a person, but ultimately decided to paint something I had never painted before ...a pair of high heels.
Just about every woman can appreciate a pair of high heeled shoes, and I am no exception.
These are sandals, and they are red.
I got this idea from Instagram.
I started seeing many pairs of high heels on this platform, and the photos inspired me.
I began by first drawing the image.
I took intermittent photos of the process.
I would definitely like to paint this type of image on more jean jackets.
There are so many styles, and colors of shoes that I think would look great.
I enjoy drawing, but it is still a little challenging for me.
I am always struggling to keep the image lifelike, and not have it look stiff.
Because these shoes were intended to be upside down, I wanted to stay true to this.
I found myself turning the jacket around, and painting from this angle.
Every painter has varying strengths to draw from.
The techniques may vary, but the end results may look very similar.
