Painted abstract tee.
Everyone has a favorite tee-shirt.
It may be old, and comfy.
It may be new and fashionable.
Some like over-sized tees, while others prefer them to be fitted.
They may be distressed, or the fabric may be in mint condition.
Long-sleeve. Short-sleeve. Crew neck. V-neck. Colorful. White.
So many options.
Sometimes I go to a marketplace that sells vintage clothing.
There are so many bundles of clothes, along with a crowd of people waiting to look through them.
People seem to gather there for a variety of reasons.
There is such a wide range of clothing.
I'm sure anyone can find at least one clothing item that peaks their interest.
I have seen floral dresses; wide-legged jeans; graphic tee shirts; men's jackets, and shirts; flannel shirts; jean jackets; and many coats.
The marketplace is held once a week on Sundays.
I wish I could go every week, but I do not have the space to accommodate all of the items that I wouid want to purchase.
This particular day, I spotted an over-sized tee that I thought I could work with.
it is gray, with a logo on the front.
I wanted to paint it, while leaving the logo partially exposed.
The design model is that there really is no design model.
It's kind of free-form.
I just splashed, and splattered different colors of paint on the shirt.
The colors complement one another well, and look great against the gray.
To paint the back, or not to paint the back?
That is a question that I often ask myself.
Sometimes, a garment looks best with only the front painted.
Other times, it is flattering with paint on the back as well.
This time, I decided to go for it, and paint both sides.
I used the same technique on the back as on front.
Free for all. No rules. Just splash and splatter.
The tee-shirt is 100% cotton, so it was one of the easier fabrics to paint.
A tee-shirt would make a great d.i.y. project.
It would be best to start with a shirt that you are not particularly attached to.
Inexpensive fabric paint may be purchased online, or at a craft store.
No experience is required.
And, there is no right or wrong way to design the tee.
Just do whatever appeals to you.
