Painted hoodie vest.
The vest was purchased at a thrift store.
It was intermingled with the jackets, and caught my attention as I was looking through the rack.
It was originally all gray, and definitely in need of a make-over.
(Did I mention that I like painting items that look a little worn? It challenges me.)
I felt confident that I could make it desirable again, although I did not have specific colors, or patterns in mind.
I started by leaving the front gray, and painting the back magenta.
Although these colors match, they somehow did not look good together on the vest
I then added yellow to the front of the vest, and it looked even worse.
This was not going well, and I did not know how to fix it.
I don"t always get the colors/design right the first time, and so I put the vest away for a while.
A few months later, I decided to try my hand with spray painting.
I pulled the vest back out, and reasoned that I should keep it simple.
Black and white.
I was a little nervous about spray painting, as I did not know what to expect.
Once I started spraying, I really enjoyed it.
I fell in love with the uneven texture that the white paint produced.
I ended up having to touch up the gaps in the black paint by hand.
The only drawback to the spray paint is the strong chemical smell.
Although I was outdoors, and I made sure the wind was blowing away from me, the fumes were in the air.
It later occurred to me that I should have been wearing goggles, and a mask.
I absolutely love the look of the spray painted clothing.
I spray painted about five items, and they were all to my satisfaction.
With the spray paint, the painting time was much faster than when painting by hand.
Both methods are fun, although it has been several months since I have used spray paint.
I still have a few cans, so I may try it again one day.
