Pink paint on a camouflage shirt.
I purchased this shirt at a thrift store.
I really liked the camouflage print.
The shirt has a snap front closure.
Even with the camouflage, the shirt looked feminine, and that really appealed to me.
I thought about adding a painted abstract design to the shirt.
I thought it over, and decided to go with pink paint.
I wanted to keep the shirt girly looking.
I used pink fabric paint.
I wasn't sure what parts of the shirt to paint, but ultimately painted the collar, the front pockets, the cuff on the sleeves, and the back.
I left the camouflage in the front, and the sleeves exposed.
.
I may wear a pink, or green tank top underneath the shirt, and leave the shirt open.
I would probably put it with a pair of faded jeans, and strappy pink sandals.
I may also wear the shirt snapped up (except for the top snap).
I may wear it with a jean skirt, and again, a pair of scrappy sandals.
As I think about all the clothes I gave away over the years because they became a little worn, I feel a bit disheartened.
I now know that a few dabs of paint may have given each piece a new life.
Even the clothing items for which there seemed to be no hope could have been restored.
I have discarded countless pairs of shoes because they were scuffed.
I have gotten rid of so many handbags that began to fade in color.
I now notice women with shoes, or handbags that could use an upgrade, and I so want to paint them.
I almost approached a woman or two to offer my painting services.
In the end, I stopped myself because I did not want to be rude, or offensive.
I also didn't want to be yelled at, or thought to be some weirdo.
Maybe once day I will develop the courage.
