Paint splash dress.
Little did I know when I purchased this dress from a thrift store a couple of years ago, that it would one day be my favorite of all the dresses I have painted.
It is indeed perfectly imperfect.
Splashes of magenta and copper cover the dress in a very unique way.
The colors are so pretty.
Very feminine.
When I purchased the dress, it was entirely black.
I enjoy painting black dresses because they are a blank canvas.
There are so many colors and designs that are flattering to black.
I began with red, yellow, and white paint on the front.
It had an orangish, tan look that didn't complement the dress.
I continued with those colors in an effort to "fix it."
When I was still unfazed with the color selections, I considered magenta.
I started painting this color on the dress with a paintbrush.
At some point, the dress seemed to have too much paint on it, so I decided to start splashing paint on it instead.
From the moment I started painting the dress, it was my intention to keep it.
I never tried it on, but when I held it up, it looked like my size.
When I finished painting it, I was so excited.
"What a cute dress I have!", I thought.
I was thinking of the different places I could wear it.
Imagine my dismay when I finally decided to try the dress on, and it was too small!
To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
Do I try to sell the dress, or do I give it to someone I know who is able to wear it?
As I've been looking over some of the clothes that I have painted, I am realizing that I could have been lighter with the paint.
Let me say this.
If I had to paint them over again, I definitely would use less paint.
In these instances, less is definitely more.
That will be my new motto.
I will be using less paint from this time forward.
Creatives are always in a state of evolution, and I am no exception.
