Painting on a beach graphic tee shirt.
This is a vintage graphic tee shirt that I purchased from an online store.
I had a few different ideas about painting on it.
In the end, I used magenta, turquoise, and copper fabric paint to create stripes moving in different directions.
I filmed some of the painting process.
I began by painting a straight vertical line with turquoise paint.
I then began painting lines in different directions with the three colors of paint.
I like the look of the colors intersecting with one another.
These parts of the tee shirt look the most vibrant.
I did paint over parts of the graphic, but I was careful not to add too much paint, as I wanted the words to still be legible.
It looks nice when the graphic is faintly visible.
It was not my intent to paint the back of the shirt, but I accidentally got paint on the back, so I had to create a design.
At the time, I was in a rush, so I am not completely satisfied with the design I created.
It is still a work in progress, as I plan to add magenta paint.
Do I ever run out of design ideas?
Yes.
When this happens, I usually paint something that I have painted in the past, using different colors of paint.
All creatives have moments of stagnation, and lack of motivation.
There have been times when I have not painted for long periods of time.
I have had absolutely no interest in opening a container of paint, or picking up a paintbrush.
During those times, it was imperative to push myself to paint when I didn't feel like it.
I had to make a determination to paint consistently.
Each time I did this, the motivation and creative ideas would eventually return.
In time, I would wonder how I ever stopped doing an art form that I loved so much.
I still have days when I lack motivation, but I remember that the way to combat this is to paint anyway.
