Jackets and vests. These are necessary clothing items, and there are a variety of them for every occasion.
Some are casual, like jean jackets.
Others are made for the workplace.
Some are for fun nights out with friends, or elegant affairs.
I absolutely love jackets, and am starting to run out of closet space to store my collection of them.
I have grown to like vests as well.
Painting a jacket or vest can give it a new life.
It can be totally transformed, especially when it is tattered.
I purchased this zip-up hoodie at a thrift shop recently.
I didn't have an exact idea of how I was going to paint it at the time of purchase, but I knew I could bring back its sparkle.
It had become dull, and uninteresting to look at.
The turquoise and copper look good together.
There needed to be more contrast between the lettering, and the color of the jacket.
Now, they both stand out.
I also purchased a pullover hoodie to paint on.
I thrifted a pullover graphic hoodie, and painted it magenta, turquoise, and copper.
I had never taken a second look at vests, but for some reason, I did this time.
I was at a thrift store, saw this vest, and wondered if I could transform it with paint.
It was a little difficult getting the paint to be visible on the back of the vest at first. Once I realized that I just needed a second coat of paint, all went well.
The vest was initially a dull, maroon color.
After being painted, the front was gold, and the back was red.
It is so much more appealing.
Here is a video clip of some of the process.
Since that time, I have painted many other vests.
I now specifically look for vests when I go shopping.
I enjoy making them beautiful.
I tend to paint jackets and vests with solid colors.
I may add splashes of paint as well.
The colors that I choose most often differ from the original color(s).
Thus far, the original fabric(s) have been too dark, or plain for my liking.
I prefer to stick with bright colors.
Even if my entire outfit were black, I would be clothed in color once I put on the painted jacket or vest.
I painted a feminine graphic that is printed on a jean jacket.
