Hand painted flats.
I was going through some old boxes last week, and came across a pair of black flats.
I don't know how I lost track of them.
I used to wear them everyday.
They were so very comfortable.
Yes, these shoes were very much broken into.
They were my favorites at one point for sure.
As I examined them, two things became clear:
1. This pair of shoes had run its course in being the color black; and
2. I could make them look new again.
No specific color stood out to paint the shoes in that moment.
I had more boxes to go through, so I put the shoes in a bag, and determined that I would paint them soon.
I woke up early this morning, and was feeling energized.
Rather than stay comfy and cozy in bed, I decided to get up and start my day.
I was feeling kind of productive, as I sat and admired my work from yesterday.
I had refreshed the paint on some handbags, and shoes that I have been teetering with for a while.
I spotted the bag of shoes that I put aside last week.
I opened it and thought, "Today is the day."
I wanted to try a mixture of color. And, so I did.
I happen to like magenta and orange together.
I think that these colors complement each other.
With that, I decided to use both of these colors.
I dabbed just a tiny bit of orange paint on the brush, and lightly painted the entire surface of the shoe.
I then did the same with the magenta.
Last, I added white.
These colors blended together well, and a hint of the original black was still visible.
The paint strokes were not moving in the same direction.
Some were horizontal, some were vertical. Others were diagonal.
I was trying to create a messy look, but one that would also be cute.
I ended by adding high gloss finisher.
I love my new shoes, and look forward to wearing them.
The meshed colors are the highlight for me.
I also started painting a pair of dark brown boots, and black leather pumps.
Stay tuned...
