Upcycling wedge heel sandals with paint.
This is another pair of vintage shoes, given to me by my sister to paint.
She mentioned that she once wore these shoes quite frequently, but they had been long forgotten.
She stated that I actually purchased these shoes for her as a gift.
It must be true because they do look very familiar.
Nevertheless, the shoes are faux suede, and were a little dusty.
I brushed the dust off, but still felt hesitant about painting them.
It just didn't seem right to put paint on top of suede (faux or not).
I decided to give it a shot.
Of the five primary colors (black, white, yellow, red, and blue), blue is my least favorite.
I have very little blue in my closet.
I'm more drawn to red, and other warm colors to include orange, and magenta.
But, somehow, blue was calling out to me to choose it.
And, strangely enough, I listened.
I poured a small amount of blue paint onto the palette, and dipped my brush in it.
It is best to start with a minimal amount of paint on the paintbrush in case the color is not to your satisfaction.
This way, it can easily be painted over if you would like to use a different color.
In like manner, I only used a dab of paint on the shoes.
To my surprise, this color added life to the sandals.
As I continued to paint, they were being transformed from drab to beautiful.
When it was all done, I was in love.
My sister was very surprised when she saw the outcome of the painted shoes.
She thought they looked great.
In fact, she hinted that she wouldn't mind having them at her disposal again.
Needless to say, I returned the shoes to her.
Now, that I have painted these, I will not shy away from painting other faux suede shoes.
In fact, I have a pair in my closet that I would like to paint.
With the painting of these shoes, the boundaries of my creativity have expanded, and I am here for it.
