Paint Splash Skirt

Paint Splash Skirt- Purchased New

Paint splash skirt.

I liked this skirt before a drop of paint ever touched it.

I purchased it brand new from a local retail store.

It is a midi length, stretchy, pencil skirt with an elastic waistband.

The original color was red.

It was my intent to paint the skirt for a fashion show that I had a few years ago.

Unfortunately, I did not have time to paint it in time for the show, but I wore it to take photos after it was painted.

The size is 3X, as it was to be worn by a plus size model.

I was surprised to find that it can pare down to a size medium.

This skirt would look great with heels, and a feminine blouse, or dressed down with athletic shoes, and a tee shirt.

Paint Splash Skirt - The Design

A few different color schemes went through my mind before I made a final decision.

"Yellow and red?"

"Blue and red?"

"Green and red?"

They all sounded interesting, but I chose to go with magenta and red.

The fabric is mainly rayon, with a bit of spandex.

These are not the easiest materials to paint on.

I knew that I did not want to cover the entire skirt with paint, as I wanted to leave parts of the original red exposed.

The paint strokes are messy, and splashy, which makes for a cool design.

Paint Splash Skirt - Dresses, and Skirts, or Pants?

I am more inclined to wear a dress, or skirt in my everyday life.

As a result, these are the clothes that catch my eye when shopping at thrift stores.

I especially enjoy rummaging through the dresses.

Needless to say, I have painted a lot more dresses, and skirts, than pants.

So far, the pants that I have painted have all been jeans.

Interesting story.

Years ago, I painted my first pair of jeans. The painted image was of a woman.

I wore the jeans once or twice, but didn't really like them so I donated them to a charity.

I was so curious to know who would purchase them, but I reasoned that I would never know, and so I moved on.

Fast forward several months later.

A co-worker was showing a few of us some purses that a friend of hers made.

All of the purses were made of jean material.

One of the purses had the woman I painted on the pair of jeans that I had donated!

No way!

My co-worker confirmed that her friend had purchased the jeans from the donation center where I had taken them.

Her friend saw these jeans as a score.

I was amazed, and flattered.

Most of all, I was thrilled to know who had actually purchased the jeans.

A great memory...
