Hand painted dresses are so fun.
There are so many colors and patterns to explore when creating a design.
Let's look at some of them.
Choosing the right colors can be thought provoking, and fun at the same time.
Color speaks to me. It is a mood elevator. A burst of color can brighten anyone's day.
I am thrilled when the color stands out, pops, and/or sparkles.
I usually choose colors that most would not put together; purple, and green; red, and pink, yellow, and silver, etc.
If the garment is dark, I choose lighter colors that are easily visible.
If the garment is light, any color will work, as long as it is a complement to the original color(s).
Sometimes, the dress needs to be painted again to get it just right.
This is not a dress. It's a jumpsuit, but it most closely falls under this category.
When I am painting clothing, I usually like to paint abstract designs.
I recently pained my vintage prom dress with an abstract design.
Sometimes, I use color blocks.
One part of the dress may be a particular color, and another section of the dress may be a different color.
The dress below was originally black.
I chose to embellish it with pink, and turquoise color blocks.
Drips or splashes of paint may give a dress a unique look as well. The splashes are messy, and uniform all at once.
I recently painted a gray sweatshirt dress.
The dress was cute in its original gray.
The paint added a certain sparkle, and colorfulness that makes it really pretty.
I liked this dress so much that I purchased four (4) of them; each one in a different size.
I have now started painting the fourth one, and each has a unique design.
I have discovered that I really like painting this type of dress. It's warm, comfy, and one of a kind.
Abstract designs are so cool to look at.
I have seen abstract art that I have a difficult time turning away from because it is so beautiful to behold.
I hope to become that type of artist one day.
Nevertheless, I have a few abstract designs in my arsenal.
One is even spray painted.
I try to rotate them, and experiment with new designs simultaneously.
I'm always evolving and learning something new.
For me, painting never gets old, as there are alway new ideas, new techniques, and new dresses to explore.
Stay tuned, as I have more to share.
A few of them are included in a fashion show.
