Painting an unwanted dress.
I received a text from my sister one afternoon, stating that she was cleaning out her closet, and giving away clothes that she was no longer wearing.
She said that I could come over, and take a look if I was interested.
I was indeed interested.
I went to my sister's house, and was not ready for the abundance of clothes that she had.
Her closet was so packed, that it was difficult to see everything that she had.
I slowly sorted through the clothes, and selected several items.
I would have taken more, but I was already having a challenge carrying what I did have.
So, I brought the clothes home, and slowly began to wash them.
I was even slower to begin painting them.
Sometimes, it takes me a minute to decide how to paint a particular item.
This dress was a solid color, so one may think that it would be easy to move forward.
Not necessarily so.
I was mulling over which color of paint to use.
I also needed to secure a design.
I finally settled on magenta because the dress was in the "red" family, and I thought the contrasting colors would look well together.
I also decided to splash paint all over the dress.
No formal design.
I don't usually keep track of how long it takes to paint an item (although I should).
I am guessing that it took about three hours total for the actual painting (including drying time).
Pondering the color and design took much longer. Days.
I guess this is really a creative AND analytical process.
I wasn't sure if the dress would look how I envisioned it to look in the end.
In fact it did.
It looked nice once I tried it on.
When the photos were taken, and I reviewed them, I liked the dress even more.
So much so, that I decided to keep the dress.
It has a new home, and is now is now hanging in my closet.
